A message from Mike Ward, Director of Admissions and Alumni Relations
Dear Alumni,
Happy New Year! I hope all of you had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas and the holidays with your family and friends. As is customary, Brophy faculty and staff met before students arrived back on campus to participate in a retreat, which was led by Fr. Bill Cain, SJ this year. Fr. Cain is a teacher, but more importantly, he is a Peabody award-winning screenwriter and author. His last book, “The Diary of Jesus Christ”, which was published in 2021, looks at the life of Jesus as a young man through his eyes and is a really interesting read if you get the chance. I will not go into details about the entire retreat, but one thing that resonated with me was his description of art. Fr. Cain stated, “Art is your sacred voice. When one finds their voice, this is when you are in the presence of God.” He went on to talk about how finding your voice gives the individual the confidence or willingness to get up and do, to be active and to participate. This is when we all do the work of God as these actions bring communities together and ultimately is what makes Brophy so unique. Think about the teachers and Jesuits who made a difference in your life, challenged you to try something new and helped you find your voice.

In the past five years of writing newsletters, connecting with alumni from so many different generations and seeing the work you are doing in your communities, it is evident that you are the examples of those who are willing to participate, try something new and take risks to discover one’s authentic self. Thank you for the opportunity to get to know you and for attending many of our alumni events on campus and around the country.
In 2024, we have many events scheduled and a few tentative ideas for the rest of the year. First, the “Young” Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at Papago Golf Course on Saturday, April 20. Here is the link to register – we have sold out each year, so do not wait to get your groups together! The 2024 Grand Reunion will celebrate all Brophy classes that graduated in the years ending in 4 and 9 and will be held on Oct. 4-6 – save the date! We are planning alumni events in Los Angeles and San Diego. We are also hoping to get back to Dallas as well as host a new event in Denver. Since the varsity football team will be playing Regis Jesuit Denver at home this fall, Brophy will then travel to Denver the following year, so stay tuned!
Remember to stay connected to the Alumni Relations Office through Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and let us know what you are doing. Have a fantastic year and stay safe and healthy in 2024!
Go Broncos!
